What not to eat at a business lunch

The author of this article gives recommendations about what kind of food can spoil your business lunch. For example, good lunches get ugly when cherry tomatoes explode and sandwiches dribble mustard down your arm and balsamic vinegar sprays tablemates. It gets even uglier when you lunch with co-workers – and downright terrifying when tablemates include a boss and a client.

So what does Post avoid at business lunches: spaghetti or linguine, mussels, lobster and ribs, burgers, meat with bones and so on.

Post’s three tips to remember for a business lunch:

  • · Order a medium-priced item.
  • · Don’t order something unless you know what it is. It’s not the time to experiment – you don’t want to sit with a plate of food you don’t like.
  • · Don’t order something difficult to eat. Save yourself the hassle.
